What is the Safety Action Plan?

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) established the Safe Street and Roads for All (SS4A) discretionary program, with $5 billion in appropriated funds over five years from 2022-2026. In 2024, the City of Searcy received a $400,000 Planning and Demonstration Grant from United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) to develop a Comprehensive Safety Action Plan.

The Searcy Safety Action Plan is being developed with the goal of eliminating fatal and serious injury crashes for all road users (drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists). The Plan will use data analysis, supplemented with local public and stakeholder input, to characterize roadway safety problems and strengthen a community’s approach through projects and strategies that address the most significant safety risks for all road users throughout the City of Searcy.
